Welcome, Certified Salesforce Business Analyst Credential!

BA Certification Available Now

Rumors abounded of a Salesforce business analyst certification in 2021. Anticipation grew until the Certified Salesforce Business Analyst credential announcement in June 2022.

The announcement included an exam guide, FAQ, and a rather daunting trailmix with over 28 hours of content. We’ve drafted a lean list of topics to help the Trailhead team streamline the trailmix.

Now, you can sign up for the certification exam, provided you have the Certified Salesforce Administrator credential.

Why Require the Admin Certification?

The Salesforce Certified Administrator prerequisite puts “Salesforce” into the new business analyst credential. It distinguishes the new cert from other business analysis certifications, such as the Certification of Capability in Business Analysis™ (CCBA®).

Certified Salesforce Administrators and Consultants already have the prerequisite Salesforce Certified Administrator credential. The Salesforce Certified Business Analyst Exam Guide lists other candidates for the certification, including:

  • Business Systems Analyst

  • Product Owner

  • Platform Manager

  • CRM Manager

  • Business Process Specialist

All of these roles would benefit from the Salesforce Certified Administrator credential. It bolsters the candidates' skill sets to:

  • Assess the current state of a Salesforce customer.

  • Communicate effectively with technical stakeholders such as architects, developers, and admins.

  • Build prototype solutions in Salesforce.

Additionally, earning the Salesforce Platform Developer I certification deepens technical understanding to develop no-code prototypes and communicate with developers.

You’re Certified. Now What?

The Salesforce Certified Business Analyst credential can open doors to new career opportunities. If you have experience driving successful customization or development projects, building a portfolio of those projects, including their business impact, will take you further. Your portfolio and credential show a hiring manager how you’ve succeeded in a business analyst role and your depth of skill.

If you have Certified Admin and Business Analysis credentials but no experience, the job interview offers an opportunity to launch your business analyst career. First, approach the company as a new business analysis client - learning about the organization and the value it delivers. Then go into the interview intending to understand how the hiring department adds value to the organization. Finally, conclude the interview by sharing your vision of how you would bring value to the organization.

Working Our Way Back to You

Many companies have capitalized on Salesforce’s rich platform to build and customize solutions, expanding their projects’ scope and sophistication. Salesforce created software development certifications, then moved upstream to architect certifications. The Certified Salesforce Business Analyst credential shifts certification further upstream, where decisions often have the most significant impact on a project.

A complex development project demands substantial risk mitigation and return on investment (ROI). Productive business analysis maximizes ROI while minimizing risk. The Certified Salesforce Business Analyst Credential informs those hiring for business analysis roles that the candidate has fundamental skills to mitigate risk with an appreciation for ROI.

The Salesforce Certified Business Analysis and Administrator credentials combine to set a balanced business and technical aptitude standard, unlocking exciting career opportunities.
